BRIEF :
The study inside the center aims to support the development movement in the region by achieving the maximum benefit from the desert nature to serve the building, whatever its type.

CONCEPT :
- The main idea is to use desert to serve urban development in “marsa alam” vision 2050 .
- Invading desert to reduce overpopulation in delta cities.
- The invasion of desert.

why this study in marsa alam ?
The geological nature of marsa alam is mixed with coastal plains, high mountains and mid-high plateaux, This leads to a great variety in raw materials, including those used in construction.
Minimalism movement :
Many people are choosing to live a minimalist life out of concern for the environment. They understand that less consumption equals less use of the earth’s natural resources. And they are choosing to make a difference.

what is rammed earth ?
rammed earth is one of the building technologies compatible and mainly depends on soil (clay) and water and a small percentage of cement. Some other additives can be added as stabilizers: such as lime or ash (carbon). Crushed soil is an ancient tecnique commonly used in deserts of Yemen and the Maghreb.

why rammed earth ?
The compacted soil achieves high efficiency in the thermal , which is a relatively low-cost method, as it mainly depends on raw materials -does not require labor with special skills.
Daylight autonomy was achieved for 52% of the occupied areas. This was further reinforced by a layered transparency of glass partitions between the write-up zone and lab spaces to allow for views out from 100% of the occupied area, excluding light sensitive lab support areas. Spaces were also aligned to allow for view corridors throughout the building.
Thermal corredor :
Due to this approach, 45% of this intensive research building is able to function without mechanical ventilation. This is an extremely simple, yet radical approach and is rarely implemented to even a modest extent in similar laboratories Due to this approach, 45% of this intensive research building is able to function without mechanical ventilation.
